Well SGTLS has endless possibilities depending on what the community dev team has the experience and time to complete.

If your looking for a single player campaign, cooperative play mode and replicators as an enemy, as far as I know they are planned for or already in the works for the source platform of SGM (once it is fully completed of course, the multi-player part of it will be released first). SGM just started a private in house beta testing phase so it's evident that things are moving forward and I am hopeful it will continue.

The future of the Stargate Worlds MMO took another turn for the worse with news that developer Cheyenne Mountain has reportedly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Wow, so they release a game and then file for bankruptcy. What a brilliant company lol. It might be worth IW Studios writting to MGM again saying can we release it via Steam now? Although I guess they will say no becuase of Resistance. See how long they support that for, and then ask again maybe.

Was to be expected.
They did not really promote stargate resistance so I doubt that they sold more games than half the people that played it that betatest weekend.
At least I'm glad that they at least tried to implement my lighting advice for the sgc (did not buy the game but tested a newer version with the same command as the beta map workaround:) )
From what I have seen the sgc has a lot more atmosphere now and the tip of hiding stuff in shadows, especially in the briefing room did wonders :thumbup:

No surprises, they have little following overall, lack of funding, and really haven't been able to pay their employees in almost a year. They have like no investors either. They pushed to make the game, an MMO no-less which takes a HUGE staff, before looking for proper funding to do so. I expected it to go under.

I've actually been part of a start up company which has suffered the same fate. Just a fact of life in the business realm, I guess.

It's really a shame, SG game that I would like to play - and the developing company is going bankrupt... But that's a reality and I can't do anything with that.
Only one question heading to Brechtos - was beta of Stargate Resistance a good game? Is it worth to buy it?

SGR is free this weekend. I'll give it a go. It doesn't look too great, though.

I just want a really good Stargate game. Maybe I'll have to just put something together for free and see what happens... ;)

I wanted to have a look at what has been fixed etc but the update from my beta build to the final build was 1) ay to big (1,5gb) and 2) way to slow (25Kb/sec)
+ they only have us servers = sucks like hell when you play from europe...

I tried to checkout SGR this weekend for it's free "Stargate Resistance Experience" but it took me a full day (16 hours) to successfully download the installation file and the activation email for the account I had to create never came so I couldn't have played it anyways.

Apparently they didn't expect their servers to get overloaded and or have problems with people getting their email activations (lots of people never got them). The experience I had just trying to checkout the mod was negative and I already know that it isn't something I would buy anyways.

Jeren, we already have a really good Stargate game already [SGTLS] it just need to be continue to be developed and the community needs to step up to the plate to do it's part to make it better. The only other SG mods I know about that might turn out a decent game are Stargate Legacy or The Stargate Mod. Both though I believe are in the early stages of production and are going to take a long while to have a stable gold version released.

I still can't believe MGM gave the licensing to SGR when there was several other SG mods out there that where better which could have been built up and released as the official SG game. Whatever, it's all about politics & money!

Oh, SGTLS is definitely a great SG game. It's just a shame Interwave couldn't get the rights to make the full game. I definitely think it would've had a bigger success than this SGR game (which I may just try out during the next free weekend).

I'm pretty sure SGTLS would have taken off a hell of a lot more then SGR did if the IW team was chosen by MGM to get the exclusive rights to make a multi-player SG based game. Fr the time being though all we can hope is they finish up with ND quickly and have some time to spend on updating SGTLS before their next commercial project starts.
